Morwell Free Store

The Morwell Free Store is our grassroots effort to redirect items from landfill and redistribute to people who need them. It has been hosted and supported by Morwell Neighbourhood House since 2014.

This project is supported by the Circular Economy Communities Fund. The Fund is delivered by Sustainability Victoria under the Victorian Government’s circular economy plan, Recycling Victoria: a new economy.

What is the Free Store?

The Free Store focuses on repurposing donated goods, providing low cost solutions to those who need it, and reducing the quantity of unwanted goods ending up in landfill.

There is a lot of waste generated by society each year, and we send a lot of perfectly good stuff to landfill. So by giving away unwanted items for free, we're slowing down the tide of things going to landfill, slowing down the destruction of the environment, and helping those who can least afford it.

Whether you're a #waronwaste warrior or just after a bargain like no other, we invite you to come along, shop, and take what you need!

Community Owned, Community Driven

The Free Store is run on people power and our work is inspired by the Pay it Forward Model. Volunteers give their time to support the program and our community donates their unwanted items to pass on to the next person.

People have asked us “what happens if you run out of stuff to give away” and in almost 10 years that hasn’t happened once, thanks to our amazing community!

To ensure we can service all those who need it, we encourage you to please take what you need, and where you can, do something nice for someone else or donate your unwanted items back to the Free Store.

Kindness is contagious!
